AlthoughWolf Manhas a chilling opening scene, it falls apart shortly after that.
The inciting incident of the present-day story is Blakes father being declared legally dead.
But not only is that twist predictable; its also derivative of an earlierWolf Manmovie.
Whereas the 2025 movie tells a totally different story with newly named characters,2010sThe Wolfmanwas a much more faithful remake.
The biggest difference in the 2010 movie is thatSir John is infected by a werewolf before his son is.
Larry is shocked to discover that Sir John is a werewolf (and he likes being a werewolf).

But inThe Wolfman, Larry and his father have a real relationship on-screen.
In between transformations,Larry gets a chance to discuss lycanthropy with his dad.
Its a much more interesting dynamic than the standard monster movie thrills ofWolf Man.
