The NBR awards are one of the earliest indicators that awards season is kicking into full gear.
This included naming the ten best movies of the year, withWickedtopping the list.
That makesWicked’s win for Best Film at NBRa substantial achievement.
However,only 22 of the previous 92 winners went on to also win Best Pictureat the Oscars.
That might even be a fair assessment ofWicked’s current Best Picture oddsin the race.
Those winners wereNo Country For Old Men,Slumdog Millionaire, andGreen Book.

This, again, is tied to how the National Board of Review and the Oscars can overlap.
That’s a great sign forWickedto at least secure a Best Picture nomination.
