Unfortunately, Weaving didn’t come back forResurrections, but that didn’t stop Smith from making an appearance.
The most direct portrayal of the villain was achieved by Jonathon Groff stepping into the role.
However,Groff doesn’t shoulder the responsibility of replacing Weaving alone.
This goes some way to explaining whyMorpheus inResurrectionshas such a different demeanor to his flesh-and-blood counterpartin the original trilogy.
As great as Harris was inResurrections, his presence was arguably unnecessary.
That being said, theconfirmation ofThe Matrix 5means Wilson’s return remains a possibility.
