There are only six movies from 2024 that have earned two important distinctions fromRotten Tomatoes.

Rotten Tomatoes is a review aggregator web site that awards movies with percentage scores that reflect how many of a title’s reviews are positive.

The Tomatometer, which tabulates a movie’s reviews from approved critics, deems a title to be “Fresh” if it 60% or more of its reviews are positive and “Rotten” if 59% or less are positive.

Movies that are generally higher than 75% and meet other qualifying criteria earn a badge that determines them to be Certified Fresh.

As of August 21, the site’s audience score, which has long been a part of the site’s functionality, has become theRotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter.

This change, which is accompanied by more strict regulations of how the audience score is tabulated,comes with a new badge that allows movies to be Verified Hot, which is the Popcornmeter’s complement to the Certified Fresh badge.

This badge can be applied to theatrical movies with a certain number of verified reviews from users who purchased tickets through Rotten Tomatoes' partner Fandango.

Rotten Tomatoes' changes to its audience score rating has made Dune 2, Twisters, and many other 2024 movies now part of a new Verified Hot rating.

Of the list of more than 200 titles that are officially Verified Hot, only six titles from 2024 are also CertifiedFresh movieson the Tomatometer.

Its audience score reflects the fact that many faith-based movies skew toward performing well on the Popcornmeter because they generally have a self-selecting audience of users seeking out movies with affirming messages that align with their own faith.

However, that factor combined with critics' celebration of the direction, cinematography, and Cristiana Dell’Anna’s lead performanceled the movie to earn a dazzling combined score of 188, beating outDune’s 187 by a hair.
