A movie based on the characters inDragon Ball’sworld did happen in 2009, albeit to disastrous results.
However, it’s important to note thatDragonball: Evolutionwas a live-action take on the originalDragon Ballanime.
Its much more popular sequel series,Dragon Ball Z, has yet to get the same treatment.
ForaDragon Ball Zmovie, on the other hand, it would most likely need to be tackled.
With that in mind,CGI would be the only way to pull it off.
By having his hair stick up, the movie tried to pay homage to Goku’s iconic hairstyle.

But this wasn’t enough to mimic the anime character’s look.
Dragon Ball Z is the sequel series to Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball and continues the adventures of Goku. Along with his companions, Goku defends the Earth against various villains ranging from intergalactic space fighters and conquerors to powerful androids and nearly indestructible creatures.
