However, whileMufasa: The Lion Kingdoes shine a new light on many of the franchise’s iconic locations, there is one place where the light does not touch.
Mufasa: The Lion Kingfocuses on a young Mufasa all the way into his adulthood, ending as he becomes the king of the Pride Lands.
The film reveals that Mufasa was adopted byScar, who was then known as Taka, before the two had to go on the run from a pack of white lions.Mufasa: The Lion Kingfinally reveals why Scar hates Mufasa and how Pride Rock came to be, but it forgets to provide a similar origin for another location.

Missing A Major Opportunity
The Elephant Graveyard is one of the most iconic locations inThe Lion King, but it is not featured in the prequel at all.

In the originalThe Lion King, Mufasa and Nala sneak away from the Pride Lands, with them secretly going to the Elephant Graveyard.
While there,Scar’s hyenas attempt to kill them, with Mufasa having to rescue the two cubs before scolding Simba.
Mufasa: The Lion King was a big box office draw for the Christmas period of 2024, begging the question of how well it performed in all markets.
Mufasa: The Lion King explores the origins of the beloved character Mufasa, focusing on his youth as a lost cub who encounters Taka, a royal heir. Their meeting initiates an epic journey of self-discovery and destiny, featuring a group of misfit companions navigating the challenges of their world.
The Lion Kingnever explains why there are so many elephant skeletons in one place,with the sheer amount of bones making the location seem like more than a place where a few elephants died.
So, even though the Elephant Graveyard is incredibly mysterious, it isn’t featured inMufasa: The Lion Kingat all, to the disappointment of some fans.
Mufasa Was A Great Opportunity To Explain The Mystery Of The Elephant Graveyard
Since It Explained Other The Lion King Locations
SinceMufasa: The Lion Kingwas a prequel,it would be a great opportunity to finally explain the mystery of the elephant graveyard after all these years.
The film could have shown the depressing events that led to the graveyard’s existence, or it could have at least had a character explain how the graveyard came to be.
Every song in Mufasa: The Lion King adds heart and energy to the reimagination of Disney’s iconic tale, bringing a fresh touch to the beloved story.
Sadly,Mufasa: The Lion Kingchose not to do this, an omission made more apparent by the fact thatthe film explained locations like Pride Rock.
It is a shame thatMufasa: The Lion Kingmissed out on this opportunity, leaving fans of the franchise still scratching their heads over how the Elephant Graveyard came to be.
