This all started with a vision she received inMoana 2when she became Motunui’s official Tautai.
BetweenMoanaandMoana 2, the titular hero had begun exploring the ocean in search of other islands and villages.
Unfortunately, she hadn’t had any luck.
It was called Motufetu, which translates from Samoan to mean “Star Island.”
It connected the people and their various islandsand allowed them to travel from place to place.

Motufetu has intersecting lines that divide dozens of pie-wedge sectors, each containing separate islands and villages.
He is described as vengeful and envious and seems to have a deep dislike for humans.
There is a lot of room left after theend ofMoana 2to further explore Nalo and his motivations.

For now, it can be attributed to his own desire for power.
He explained how to find Motufetu and showed her precisely what would happen to Motunui if she failed.
Vasa also made it clear that his mission would be far beyond Moana’s previous journey.
However, Nalo wouldn’t allow this.
