The negative press fromSnow White’s controversiesplayed a role in box office projections declining as the release got closer.

Any hope Disney had that general audiences would help lift the film disappeared in the opening weekend.

That could have given Disney some optimism that a similar path to success could exist forSnow White.

That isa new record low for Disney’s live-action remakes.

The previous record holder wasDumbo, which dropped 60.4% in 2019.

It didn’t just barely break the previous record drop.

It shattered the low point for these movies with its disappointing second weekend.

It’s now thesixth Disney live-action remake not to repeat as #1 at the box office.

This only considers domestic totals, as international releases vary per film and are more difficult to track.

They are the tenth and eleventh highest grossing Disney live-action remakes as a result.

Snow Whiteis currently well behind both of those totals, as its worldwide total is $143 million.

But,DumboandMaleficent: Mistress of Evilwere much bigger hits overseas than domestically.
