Heart Eyes

The villain borrows many characteristics ofthe best slasher villains, including using some of their most iconic weapons.
The crossbow and machete are the two weapons the character uses most often.
Its first shown when the villain is chasing down Ally after Jay gets knocked out.
They wield the machete again while trying to kill her on the carousel.
Then, its brought back again during the police station and the drive-in movie scenes.
The Heart Eyes Killer uses it to cut into Hobbs groin, threaten Jay, and kill unsuspecting couples.
Plenty of movies before Heart Eyes have offered similar comedy, romance, and themes.
A few even shared the same actors and creators.
No matter what other weapon Jason grabs, his machete always comes back.
Both villains dont seem to have a sense of fear of mortality.
They also dont have qualms about killing anyone and everyone.
Meanwhile, Jason seems happy to kill anybody near Camp Crystal Lake.
This fits with the Valentines Day setting since Cupid traditionally uses arrows.
The villains of both movies like to play mental games of cat and mouse with their victims.
However, one of the Heart Eyes Killers wields a gun when inside the chapel at theend ofHeart Eyes.
The villains also give a gun to Ally as a test forcing her to either shoot herself or Jay.
This choice of weapon is most likely an homage to Art the Clown in the movieTerrifier.
Unlike other villains, Art the Clown doesnt hesitate to use handguns.
TheTerrifierweapon homage isnt the only similarity between Art the Clown and the Heart Eyes Killer.
Art never speaks throughouttheTerrifiermovies, and the Heart Eyes villain doesnt speak until the very end of the film.
This makes both villains much more scary.
This is especially noticeable when one of the Heart Eyes Killers wields a hunting knife.
While David seems to prefer the crossbow, Shaw frequently pulls out the knife.
The Heart Eyes Killer stabs the hunting knife through Allys closet door and again through the bedroom door.
