How much did you have to work through the COVID-19 pandemic in gettingExtraordinary Birdergoing?
Christian Cooper: That’s a good question.
What were some of your favorite experiences or moments in the making ofExtraordinary Birder?
Christian Cooper: One I keep coming back to is here in my hometown of New York City.
I got to go up to the towers of the George Washington Bridge.
And it was just an amazing, breathtaking experience.
Christian Cooper: Oh God!
That’s really hard to answer.
Your binoculars always go with you.
I’ve been at the base of Mt.
Everest and seen birds there, so every experience is different.
Once I was in Ecuador in the middle of the pandemic.
- and there she was, sitting by the nest.
There are so many amazing experiences once you start birding, and some of them are really close up.
And I’m like ‘I don’t know what’s going here, but I’m freaked out!
They are the bellwether of what’s happening to our planet.
But also, just to get out there and enjoy it, because it’s so much fun.
