Kazakh-Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov is helming the project for MGM Studios.

Excitedly, Ferguson will be playing a villain character, the aggressive school headmistress Dame Snap.
The film was written by Simon Farnaby, whose credits includeWonkaandPaddington, both of which fulfill a similar aesthetic.
Ben Gregor is the director behindThe Magic Faraway Tree, with credits mostly involving TV productions likeBritanniaandCuckoo.
Barry Keoghan was also recently announced for the film.

Themovie will adaptDune Messiah, which Rebecca Ferguson’s Jessica doesn’t appear in.
Anya Taylor-Joy’s Alia Atreides could also be one of the main protagonists.
According to the expandedDunelore,Jessica returns to Caladan and forms a romantic relationship with Gurney Halleck.

They’re both characters inChildren of Dune, so they would eventually have to return to Arrakis.
